Programs

Blacks United for Youth-Cobb , Inc. has established several programs under the core areas of mentoring, leadership and scholarships. Key programs include:

Leadership Academy

A monthly program designated to encourage leadership skills in participating students. Held at Southern Polytechnic State University, students discuss topics such as Preparing for College, Multimedia, Business Communication and Professional Careers.

Reflections of Greatness

A program conducted on demand at different Middle Schools and High Schools designed to generate interactive discussion of today’s pertinent issues. Students discuss topics such as Setting Goals, Dealing with Peer Pressure and Determining Your Destiny. The students are left with an autographed, inspirational book to read.

Personal Excellence

A monthly program designed to motivate and mentor students at the Central Alternative School of Cobb County, as well as the Woods –Wilkins Center of the Marietta Scools System. Discussions are centered around making good choices and getting back on track. Among the topics of focus are Attitude, Setting Goals, Conflict Resolution and Vocations.

Prayer Breakfast

An annual fundraiser held in April to bring together community citizens, leaders and program participants to enjoy breakfast, entertainment, special recognitions and youth presentations. The program is culminated with an inspiring speech presented by a local official. Proceeds support scholarship and outreach programs.
